A personal learning journey, inspired by my wife’s roots in Kyiv and the language we share with our family.
My wife, Iryna, is from Kyiv. Learning her language is a way for me to understand more of her world—the conversations, expressions, and culture that are part of her life. It also connects to the Ukrainian heritage we share with our daughter.
This website grew out of that personal journey.
Starting with a new alphabet means slowing down. Recognizing a letter, remembering its sound, and reading it inside a word are different skills. Even a familiar-looking word can take practice.
I started building tools that would help me work through those steps: an alphabet I could hear, illustrated vocabulary, everyday phrases, and flashcards I could shuffle and revisit.
As my learning expands, so does the website. You’ll find activities covering letters, numbers, colors, shapes, nouns, verbs, and pronouns, with Ukrainian audio and English translations to help you practise.
I’m currently studying Ukrainian with two teachers on Preply. Their lessons are part of my own learning journey, and I want this website to help other learners discover them.
The activities here give you somewhere to practise between lessons. Working with a teacher adds conversation, questions, and personal feedback.

Whether Ukrainian connects you to family, friendships, travel, or a personal interest, you’re welcome here.
Start with a few letters. Learn the names of things around you. Listen, repeat, and come back tomorrow.
That’s how I’m beginning, too.
